Do I require a special license to drive a GoCheap Motorhome?
A current and full motor vehicle driver’s license is required and must be produced upon vehicle collection. Should a foreign license be in a language other than English it must be accompanied by a current international driving permit issued in the same country as the driver’s license was issued. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit.
How old to have to be to drive a GoCheap Motorhome?
Drivers must be aged between 21 and 79 years old.
What is the vehicle equipped with?
All vehicles come fully equipped with: Pillows & Donnas, Sheets, Towels, Cooking Utensils, Pots/Pans/Frypan, Plates & Bowls, Cups & Glasses, Kettle, Dish Cloth, Dish Brush, Tea Towels, Electric Toaster, Cutlery, Tin Opener, Corkscrew, Microwave Cookware, Food Containers, Chopping Board, Clothes Hangers, Clothes Line & Pegs, Bucket, Dustpan & Broom, Fire Extinguisher, Waste & Fresh Water Hose, Toilet Chemical (for vehicles with shower & toilet), Full LPG Bottle(s).
We also have a range of additional hire items including outdoor tables and chairs, satellite navigation systems, baby and booster seats.
We highly recommend you pack your belongings into soft bags instead of suitcases.
What Credit cards do you accept?
Cruisin Motorhomes accepts Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard and MasterCard Debit. A credit card surcharge fee will apply to all transactions.

Do you have cancellation fees?
If cancelled up to 29+ days prior to pick up. No Fee
If cancelled 28 to 7 days prior to pick up 25% of total rental
If cancelled 6 to 1 days prior to pick up – 50% of total rental
If cancelled on the day of pick up or ‘No Show’ – 100% of total rental
There is no refund for late pick-up or early return of the vehicle.
Can a baby seat be fitted to a Motorhome or Campervan?
Baby seats to accommodate babies and toddlers under four years can be fitted to the 6 berth Derwent, 5 berth Huon and 4 berth Henty. Children under four years of age cannot travel in the HiTop Campervan.
Booster seats to accommodate children between four and six years can be fitted to all GoCheap vehicles. Whilst it is legal for a child between these ages to sit in the front passenger seat, GoCheap does not recommend any child under 8 years sits in the front seat. GoCheap offers baby and booster seats for hire.
Are there restrictions where I can drive?
Motorhomes and Campervans can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. The only exceptions to this are well maintained access roads of less than five kilometres to recognised campgrounds . Should a customer wish to travel on an unsealed road that is greater than five kilometres in length to access a recognised campground special permission can be arranged pending road condition, weather and distance. Please contact your local representative to discuss.
Where can I camp in the GoCheap Motorhome?
Campervan /Motorhome/Holiday Parks
A motorhome or campervan is the perfect way to explore Tasmania. Our compact island has diverse scenery and interesting, uncrowded roads that lend themselves to touring.Some parks have private en suite facilities for campervans/motorhome travelers.

Can I camp In National Parks?
Most national parks have areas set aside for camping. There are often showers, toilets, barbecues and picnic areas. National parks are also beautiful and peaceful locations to stay overnight. However, national parks do not usually offer powered sites.
How long will the gas bottle last?
One bottle should last up to 2 weeks but a lot of cooking could cut this short by a few days. Our 4, 5 and 6 berth motorhomes are supplied with a 9 litre bottle and Our Hi-top campervans with a 4 litre bottle.
How long do batteries last when free camping?
GoCheap Motorhomes have two batteries – one to run the engine and the other to operate the living equipment such as the fridge and lights. This battery will remain charged for approximately 12 to 14 hours. If you flatten the battery you will need to plug the vehicle into 240V mains power for the battery to recharge. We recommend you stay in caravan Parks to charge the battery every night or at least every second night.
What works when the campervan is not connected to a 240v power supply?
When a GoCheap Motorhome is not connected to a 240v power supply, everything EXCEPT the house A/C, microwave and the TV/Video runs on 12V. The fridge, water heater, house lights will run off the 12v batteries in the vehicle.
Is power required to use the vehicle air-conditioning Unit?
Yes, you need to be plugged in to a Powered site to enable you to connect your vehicle to electricity to use the air-conditioning in the living area of the 5 & 6 berth leisure- seeker, models.
Can we rent a generator?
No, not available and cannot be used with our vehicles.
Can you get good TV reception everywhere?
Reception is limited outside of the metropolitan areas. Tasmania has a problem with hills limited your TV viewing.
Do you have vehicles with automatic transmission?
All GoCheap Motorhomes and Campervans are manual transmission.
Do you have roadside assistance for GoCheap Motorhomes?
If there is a problem with the vehicle, we provide 24 hour RACT roadside assistance.
Do you have vehicles that can accommodate more than 6 people?
Our largest vehicle is the 6 berth Derwent which can accommodate a maximum of 6 people.
What is the storage capacity in the vehicles? Can we bring our suitcases?
Hard suitcases are not recommended. We recommend you travel with foldable, soft bags only. Restrict your luggage to a minimum.
Do we have to book campgrounds in advance?
We advise to do so during peak periods such as school holidays, especially between Christmas and New Year, public holidays and long weekends.
Can we hire a GPS navigation system from you? What is the cost?
GPS units are included if you book our hassle free pack Otherwise, we offer GPS units for hire at $9.00 per day.
Can I recharge my laptop in the vehicle?
If you are plugged in simply use a power point in the vehicle. If you are not plugged in you may use your own converter ,(available from electronic stores such as Harvey Norman, JB hi-fi or Dick Smith for around a $100 — for a 300W).
Why should I pay for whole day if I pick up in the afternoon and drop off early morning?
RVs are hired out on a daily basis.
Do you allow animals in your vehicles?
No, we do not allow animals in the vehicles, except for guide dogs.
Does the vehicle come with an iron and ironing board?
GoCheap Motorhomes does not provide irons or ironing boards. However you will find most camp grounds do have laundry facilities.
Can we smoke in the vehicle?
No. Smoking is not permitted in any of our vehicles.
Does the vehicle come with a hair dryer?
GoCheap does not provide hair dryers.

How can we visit national parks?
There is a network of national parks in all regions of the island. National Park entry fees apply – the best deal is to purchase a $50 per vehicle pass that gives unrestricted entry to all parks for eight weeks. 24 hour passes cost $20 per car – but you’ll probably want to visit several parks, so a $50 pass is good value. Passes are available at major national park visitor centre and Tasmanian Visitor Information Network centres.

Where can we stop at night?
There are well-equipped and fully-serviced caravan parks and campgrounds in major centres and most country towns. Search for places to stay.
What about the weather?
Expect warm, pleasant summers with refreshing sea breezes in the afternoons; mild, calm, sunny autumns (most Tasmanians love this season best); brisk, bracing winters, with plenty of clear, sunny days; and fresh,green springtime days. Best times for touring – spring and autumn.

What are the roads like?
In all areas of the state you’ll be travelling on good, sealed roads – you will rarely if ever need to leave the bitumen. Distances can look deceptively short on the map – but winding roads in highland areas can extend the day’s driving.
How long do I need to see Tasmania?
Allow five days as an absolute minimum for a Tasmanian campervan touring holiday – and don’t try to get all the way around in that time. A much better option is to plan a break of 7 or 10 days – even then you’ll want to return to do the things you’ve missed.
