Can I cancel or change my Booking?
Yes, it’s free to cancel your reservation at any time up to 14 business days prior to pickup date (excluding peak season bookings).

Up to 14 Business Days prior to pickup date: Free Cancellation (Excluding peak season Dec 14th to Jan 10th).. Any deposit paid will be refunded (direct bookings only – if booked via a travel agent you will need to confirm with them).

Peak Season Bookings (Dec 14th to Jan 10th). If You cancel a booking due to be picked up between Dec 14th to Jan 10th, 100% of the booking total will be forfeited. We recommend purchasing travel insurance when travelling Australia to minimise any financial loss due to unforeseen circumstances.

Within 14 Business Days of pickup date: 100% of the booking total will be forfeited. We recommend purchasing travel insurance when travelling Australia to minimise any financial loss due to unforseen circumstances.

Making changes to your booking…
If you need to change your booking, we will do everything we can to accommodate. Can I pickup my campervan after hours??
Yes, in selected locations.
After hours pickup is available from our Brisbane, Cairns & Sydney campervan rental offices.

If you want to collect your campervan after hours, there will be no staff present at our depot, so we will make arrangements to leave the camper at the front of our depot. An email will be sent to you a few days prior to collection with the registration number of your vehicle and instructions for retrieving the keys.

PRIOR TO COLLECTION OF YOUR CAMPERVAN:
1. Check-In Online - Make sure all of your details are accurate and added to your booking. You can login
2. Payment of Balance & Rental Agreement - We ask that all payments are be paid prior to collection, that includes the Bond. We will forward your rental agreement, along with the Credit Card link and also a Customer form.  We will need a copy of all drivers licences, that includes international licence, and or passports. 
3. Campervan Instructions - Once your agreement has been finalised, we will also send you instructions on how the camper works.

How old do I have to be to rent a campervan?
21 or older. We rent our campervans to all drivers aged 21 and over.

What do I need to bring when collecting my campervan?
Let’s make your pickup go smoothly.

BEFORE PICKUP
1. Check-in online HERE at least 14 days prior to pickup date
2. Add all driver information (when checking in)
3. Confirm pickup & dropoff times (when checking in)
4. Pay any remaining balances via bank transfer (details are on your booking confirmation).

AT PICKUP
1. All Drivers must bring their Drivers Licences
2. Bring your passports (for international customers only)
3. Bring a valid Credit Card (to process the insurance deposit / authorisation)
REMINDER: All Drivers must be between the ages of 21 and 86 years of age. The balance of your booking will need to be paid for 14 business days prior to collecting your campervan.

Do I need an International Driving License?
No, it’s not necessary.

No. For international visitors, an international license is not required to hire from Awesome Campers, however if your license is not in English we recommend applying for one as authorities in some regions may request an international license.

Vehicle Protection Cover & Bonds
What is Vehicle Protection Cover??
We’ve got you covered.
We offer Campervan Protection Cover to lessen your financial responsibility in case of an incident that causes damage to your Awesome campervan.

When you hire a camper with us, your liability is limited to the chosen amount if there’s an accident or incident, regardless of who’s at fault, as long as you stick to the terms and conditions in your rental agreement.

Please note, our Protection Cover isn’t a replacement for travel insurance. We strongly recommend that all renters opt for comprehensive Travel Insurance for total peace of mind.

There are a some exclusions and conditions that apply to our Protection Cover, so we encourage you to thoroughly read the terms and conditions of your rental agreement.

What is my Bond?
Your bond amount depends on the level of Vehicle Protection Cover you choose to purchase.

When renting an Awesome Camper, you will be required to select a level of Vehicle Protection Cover, which will ultimately determine the Bond amount payable when collecting your vehicle. Below is an abbreviated table outlining your Bond options. For a comprehensive look at our vehicle protection cover, please click HERE.

The excess/Bond will be a pre-authorisation on your credit card and will be held for the duration of the rental. If the bond is paid by cash, our depots do not keep cash on the premises and are unable to refund bonds as cash. Any cash bond due for return will be transferred into a bank account nominated by the hirer. Any bank fees associated with this are to borne by the hirer.

Does my campervan include Roadside Assistance?
Yes, all Awesome Campers have RACQ Membership, giving you the peace of mind of roadside assistance if you get in any trouble.

If you are currently on hire and need mechanical assistance with your vehicle, please contact Roadside Assistance on +61 297 407 463. This service is available from 9am to 7pm everyday.

For any other issues, please contact us during office hours on +61 2 9740 7462.

Please note that hirers will be liable for fees in the event of human error, examples of this include:
Locked keys in the vehicle, Flat Battery, Tyre Change/s, Non-Mechanical Issues, Use outside of contracted area of use, or damage caused by negligence, Any problems associated with the Vehicle, including equipment failure, must be reported to Awesome Campers within 24 hours in order to give Awesome Campers the opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental.

Failure to do so may compromise any claims for compensation. Awesome Campers reserves the right not to accept liability for any claims submitted after this period.

Are the campervans automatic or manual transmission?
Automatic. Yay! All Awesome Campers have automatic transmission and are super-easy to drive!

Using your Awesome Campervan

Do I have to return the van with a full tank of fuel??
No, but… Please just return the camper with the same level of fuel that was in it when you picked it up.

What type of fuel does my campervan use??
Unleaded Petrol. All Awesome campervans require unleaded petrol (95/98 RON). This information should be displayed on the fuel cap of the vehicle.

Your camper should be returned with the same amount of fuel as when you picked it up.

What does a flashing red warning light (car with key icon) on the dashboard mean?

Seeing a red warning light on the dashboard (car with key icon)?
The red light on the dashboard is an immobiliser warning light (anti-theft security system). It is a great piece of technology and its purpose is to prevent the vehicle from being stolen. There is nothing to worry about.

Try these suggestions:
-> Your key fob – also known as a transponder – does not recognise the car key used. Try bringing the key fob closer to the ignition button or on the dashboard.
-> If the car doors or boot is open and the key fob is inside the vehicle – the warning light is telling you have forgotten your key.
-> The battery in the fob is getting low.

Where can I drive my Awesome Campervan??
Definitely no unsealed roads or beaches.
Certain parts of Australia are designated as prohibited areas, due to their remoteness and/or the condition of roads. Please obey any and all street signs and road rules.

Driving is totally prohibited on:
Gravel or unsealed roads (except access roads less than 3km to recognised commercial campgrounds)
Beaches and sand
Fire trails
Fields/paddocks
Off-road tracks and 4WD terrain
Sand Islands (Tasmania, Kangaroo Island permitted)
If we discover evidence that the vehicle has been used in a prohibited area, Your contract will be cancelled immediately and You will be liable for AUD $7000.00 for breaching Your contract with Awesome Campers.

Are there Toll Roads and do I have to pay Toll Fees?
Yes there are many toll roads in NSW, QLD and VIC, mostly in capital cities.
We can provide total coverage for every toll road in Australia for a fixed optional fee of $75. This fee covers every toll road in Australia, so you don’t have to worry about paying them while on your roadtrip!

If you choose not to purchase our Toll Roads cover, you will need to pay for your Tolls directly to the toll road provider. Failure to pay your tolls on-time attract administrative fees of up to $70 per infringement.

Can I smoke in my campervan?
Sorry, no smoking in or around the camper.
Unfortunately if Awesome Campers staff or acting Agents detect smoke, then there will be an additional charge for $250 on top the ‘cleaning fee’. This will be used to cover the extra cleaning time needed to remove the odour from the vehicle for the next customer.
